Accelerate

A team of scientists and engineers creating software to accelerate science in materials, chemistry, and beyond

About Us

Our team is made up of software engineers, scientists, and researchers of various disciplines. We're passionate about developing software that plays a part in world-changing scientific discoveries.

We believe in making science accessible

Our products and services fulfill different purposes, but all work towards the same goal: making science more accessible, far reaching, and reproducible than ever before. Whether it's making data easy to share, access, and understand, or facilitating collaboration and connections that wouldn't likely be made otherwise, our we're there to help with your project every step of the way.

Sensing some synergy? Partner with us! We love working with others to make great science. Reach out so we can learn more about you.

We are a group within Globus Labs at Globus and the University of Chicago.

We are a very values-driven group. A few of our team values include:

  • Kindness + Compassion — regarding each other as humans with human needs. Respecting each other's perspectives and experiences. Listening to each other and considering each other wholly. We take care of ourselves and each other.
  • Eyes on the prize — not just good work, but the right work. Doing work that aligns with our values and prioritizing quality over quantity/speed
  • Collaboration — working together, having each other’s backs, celebrating our wins and differences

You can see all of our values on the team page.

Our team is able to do great work and have fun doing it. Our team meetings may include dogs, cats, lizards, or birds joining the zoom; learning about different ways to prepare mushrooms; a slideshow of someone's weekend; or an ABBA dance party.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to questions we've heard a few times. Reach out if you still have any questions.

Our goal is to make science more accessible, far reaching, and reproducible than ever before; but what exactly does that mean and what does that look like? Our team strives to address five primary components of accessibility:
  • Reproducibility
  • Findability
  • Discoverability
  • Shareability
  • Understandability

We are a fully remote team! We have an optional office space in Chicago, Illinois, but many of our team members and collaborators are scattered around the United States and even around the globe.

FAIR stands for Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

A background in science is not required to contribute to our projects. We recognize that many people can and want to contribute to science and have different skillsets they bring to the table. The only requirements are an open mind, an interest in science, and the ability to work well with others.

Contact us so we can learn more about your work and how we can contrubute. We love working with others to create great science!
